Why I chose Fletcher: At Fletcher, I have the opportunity to pursue the issue I am most passionate about- the environment; however, my passion has gone a step further. I have been able to explore areas outside of what I knew to be the conventional “save the trees” environmentalism. The curriculum at Fletcher allows students to focus on a specific topic but also branch into other subject areas for a more holistic picture. At Fletcher, I have found a diverse bevy of extremely knowledgeable professors, classmates with extraordinary experiences, an expansive network of helpful alumni, and an extremely welcoming staff. This makes Fletcher a truly one-of-a-kind school.
How Fletcher has broadened my global perspective: Meeting people from all over the world is not a foreign concept to me. However, for the past several years, most of these people have been united by their passion for the environment. At Fletcher, people from all over the world have almost as many concerns as there are countries represented. This school has opened my eyes to aspects of life that had barely crossed my mind in the past- from the plight of destitute children in South Africa, to the intense training of military personnel, to the condition of education in Tonga, to the treatment of asylum seekers in Scandinavia, to the drive of the investment banker in Japan, I am beginning to really appreciate the multidimensional nature of the world in which we live.
