Jürgen Braunstein

Jürgen Braunstein is a Ph.D. candidate in the Government Department at the London School of Economics (LSE), working on the political economy of Sovereign Wealth Funds in small open economies.

Juergen Braunstein is a senior associate with LSE Enterprise, where he co-directs and manages the LSE engagement programme on sovereign wealth funds (SWFs). Dr Braunstein currently coordinates the Global Commission of Climate Change flagship programme on financing the urban transition. His areas of expertise include financial instruments, emerging markets and state owned enterprise reform.
He was researcher at the Kuwait Programme on Development, Governance Globalisation in the Gulf States, where he worked on one of the first databases on SWF equity investments in OECD economies. Juergen has also held appointments in the Government Department at LSE.
He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics on "Explaining Sovereign Wealth Fund Variation: The Role of Domestic Politics in Small Open Economies".
