David C. Henderson, MD, is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Associate Psychiatrist at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He serves as the Director of the Chester M. Peirce, M.D. Division of Global Psychiatry at MGH, the Medical Director for the MGH-Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma and editor of the International Journal of Culture and Mental Health. He is also the Director of the MGH Schizophrenia Diabetes and Weight Reduction Research, Director of the Clozapine Program, and Associate Director of the MGH Schizophrenia Program.
Dr. Henderson’s main research interests focus on psychopharmacology, schizophrenia, glucose and lipid metabolism and cardiovascular disease, along with the impact ethnicity and cultural on psychiatry. He also studies the impact of trauma in areas of mass violence and develops programs to assist vulnerable populations which include projects in Rwanda, Cambodia, East Timor, Bosnia, Peru, Liberia, New Orleans, and New York City.
