David Hastings maintains an active presence in the service of resilience, as President for the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund. Previously he was the Executive Director of this organization and interacted heavily with the Red Cross supportive program for 9/11 survivors, the multiple tri-state area victim services organizations, and the surviving relatives of those lost. His interests in the topic area began in the late 1970s when he served in various executive capacities in the community mental health system throughout the Merrimack Valley in Massachusetts. An invited speaker and consultant to the then National Council of Community Health Centers, he changed career direction and went in to the field of higher education administration, holding positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts University and now Harvard University. He maintains a management consulting practice assisting organizations that focus on populations who have stress through disease and/or trauma.
