How Fletcher has broadened my global perspective: Fletcher has changed my understanding of the world because it has offered me a depth and breadth of global experiences that I never imagined possible. Throughout my time as a MALD and PhD student, Fletcher has offered me academic and professional experiences in places as far afield as Iraq, Syria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, France and Scandinavia. While pursuing my doctorate at Fletcher I have had the privilege of working for the State Department, various think tanks, and also the professional military educational establishments. It has clearly been a life changing five years!
Something that has surprised me about Fletcher: I was surprised by the broad range of possibilities that Fletcher offers its students. With the right combination of ambition, effort and persistence, there are very few opportunities not available to Fletcher students. The school has a stellar reputation everywhere I have been, whether working with UN officials in the Congo, US State Department officials in Northern Iraq or in the Department of Defense in Washington, DC. Simply be prepared to be faced with the dilemma of too many opportunities, rather than too few.
