Avner Golov, Israel

On the PhD program: The doctoral program at Fletcher is the optimal environment for every student to collaborate with leading experts as well as other young minds in a wide spectrum of fields related to national security, to consolidate new approaches to analyze contemporary national security challenges and innovative solutions to them. I believe that continuing my training at Fletcher is the best potential starting point for a career in the academic and policy communities.

A quintessential Fletcher moment: A quintessential Fletcher moment would be the time when one of my study groups discussed the current American strategic dilemma in Iraq. One of the students shared his military experience from the war in Iraq. Another shared economic insights from an analysis of the Iraqi economy he had performed in his previous job. Another student went on to share her observations from when she worked at one of the NGOs operating in Iraq.
