On selecting Fletcher: The two years I spent at Fletcher pursuing my MALD degree were arguably the best two years of my life. Those two years provided me with opportunities and challenges, exposed me to newer ideas, took me out of my comfort zone, and most importantly, gave me friends and mentors for life. Fletcher is not only an intellectually exhilarating place, but it is an institution where students and their opinions truly matter. It is a community, where renowned professors take out time for students from their airtight schedules, and alumni -- near and far -- rush to help. This is why I decided to come back to Fletcher, but this time, to pursue a doctorate. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

On the support of the PhD Program: Returning to school after a couple of years can be challenging -- and anxiety-ridden. But my fellow PhD students, before and after I joined the doctoral program, were there to help. I was connected to members of my cohort before school began and once the semester started, other students helped us with courses, with comprehensive exams, and with being a student again for the next three to five years! People warn that pursuing a doctorate is a lonely experience, but I believe not at Fletcher. The student body, as well as the faculty and stuff, will always be there for you -- inside and outside the classroom.

Something that has surprised me about Fletcher: We all know how diverse and flexible Fletcher is, but what surprised me the most is how welcoming Fletcher actually is. The warmth and instant acceptance I have received has surpassed my expectations. Everyone - absolutely everyone - helped me trudge through the difficult period of moving out of my country for the first time to join the MALD program. The deans, professors, registrar (especially the registrar), career counselors, the second-years, have all been mentors and supporters - for which I will always be grateful.
