José Luis Mardones is currently a consultant and a member of the board at Metro Valparaíso and CESCO Corporation.
In his professional career, he has been an academician, senior executive and consultant. He obtained a Ph.D. in International Studies and a MALD at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Boston and a M.S. in Industrial Engineering at the University of Chile. His Ph.D. thesis was on real options applied to mining operational management. He has been professor of economics and finance at the Graduate School of Engineering, University of Chile.
He has been CEO at several companies (postal company CorreosChile, Colbún Electric Company and Port Concessions Authority), Chairman of the board of Valparaíso Port Authority and Banco del Estado, and previous manager (in planning, research, mining, finance or general management) at several mining companies and institutions, including, Codelco, Chilean Copper Commission, Enami and Enacar.
