The Fletcher School: Orientation 2015-2016

Skills/Academic Prep

Preparation If You’re Planning on Pursuing Business or a Quantitative Course Load

For students planning to pursue a business or quantitative-heavy course load at Fletcher and would like to brush up on key foundational skills, we are offering two online preparatory courses. All MIB students are required to complete the MBA Math course, and others are welcome to do so as well. All students who are interested in improving their spreadsheet modeling skills should consider taking the Spreadsheet Modeling course. We encourage you to consider taking these courses if they are appropriate for your academic goals and background.
  • MBA Math (required for MIB students, optional for all others)
This is a self-paced online quantitative skills course that generally takes 20-40 hours to complete. MBA Math has 24 lessons covering basic quantitative skills in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, and spreadsheets. With the greater confidence of a firmer quantitative foundation, students should be in a better position to take on the challenging quantitative and business classes. Students are eligible to receive a discounted one-year subscription of $129 by using a promotion code. Please email and include your name in the email to receive the promotion code. MIB students will receive this information automatically via email. The one-year subscription allows you to complete the course before school starts and also return to the material as needed during the school year.
  • Spreadsheet Modeling
This online course is meant to provide all students with important foundational skills on using Excel as a reporting and modeling tool for solving business problems. It should take approximately 20 hours to complete, though for some it may take longer. The cost for this online course is $49.50 and may be accessed at:
