Microvest is an investment fund that makes debt and equity investments in microfinance institutions and low-income financial institutions in emerging markets. I underwrite these investments by assessing the financial and political risks through qualitative and quantitative analyses that involve financial modeling as well as client visits on site to assess operations.

Fletcher thesis: The Impact of the Global Financial Crisis on Chinese Bond Market

On the flexibility of the curriculum: I love the fact that at Fletcher I combined core business courses such as corporate finance and accounting with core international relations courses in global political economy. I can’t imagine being able to combine such a diverse course mix at any other graduate school. The flexibility of the curriculum at Fletcher allowed me to build core competencies in the fields of both business and international relations while tailoring my courses to attain a breadth and depth of knowledge geared towards my specific career goals. That is exactly why I went to Fletcher!

How I first learned about Fletcher: A few years before coming to Fletcher, I was researching several graduate school programs. As I was in the process of picking several people’s brains, I happened upon a friend’s sister, who went to the same undergraduate college as I did. She had graduated from Fletcher a couple of years ago. The more I learned from her about Fletcher’s flexible curriculum, collegial student life, academic rigor, and excellence of the faculty, the more I found myself drawn to this place.
