On the Community: One of the most remarkable things about the Fletcher community is the broad range of experiences that the students and faculty bring to campus. Whether it’s a conversation on the evolution of counterinsurgency strategy or carbon trading in China, odds are someone at Fletcher either has had experience in the field or can put you in touch with someone on the other side of the world who has. The global network of alumni and current students is one of Fletcher's most valuable assets and one of the defining characteristics of the community. As many alumni attest there are few places left on the globe where you won’t run into a fellow Fletcher grad.

Something that has surprised me about Fletcher: One of the most surprising things about Fletcher is the number of opportunities students have to meet some of the world’s foremost experts in business, politics, and international relations. Whether it’s a lunch with Josef Ackermann, the CEO of Deutsche Bank, or a speech by General David Petraeus, it seems that on any given day you could walk through the Hall of Flags and run into someone who you were just reading about in the Wall Street Journal or New York Times.
