On the culture of Fletcher: One striking thing about Fletcher is that although many people would fall into the so-called "overachiever" category, there is very little competitive stress. Everybody strives to do their utmost, but students are geared towards collaboration and helping out their classmates. Something that I was told over and over before starting class was that I would learn so much from my peers - which has turned out to be very true. The wealth of collective experience and the sum total of knowledge here is mind bogglingly rich and diverse. Everybody is eager to contribute and to help each other; nobody has to struggle alone.

On Fletcher alumni: When I was deciding between graduate school options, I made an effort to talk to alumni of all the places I was considering. And although I talked to graduates of other top-tier programs, none of them matched the enthusiasm of the Fletcher alums when it came to love for their alma mater. The alums were very gracious with their time and seemed so invested in my decision that it didn't take too long for them to convince me that I wanted to be a part of the “Fletcher Mafia” too. Now that I am here, and embarking on the arduous task of finding internships (and, gasp, career opportunities), the alumni network is an invaluable resource. I hope that one day, I too will be in a position to help future classes of Fletcher students down that path.
