Why I chose Fletcher: I learned about Fletcher over four years ago, while working for a humanitarian NGO in Darfur, Sudan. At the time, I was quite sure that I wanted to attend graduate school to explore my interest in managing and growing organizations in volatile environments. I considered many MBA programs, but in the end, none seemed to be the right fit for me. I wanted a program that would give me room to explore my diverse interests; delve deeper into the real complexity of the world I encountered everyday in my work; and most importantly, allow me to participate in a community of diverse, global-minded students whose interests were not so traditionally defined. Though my route to Fletcher was a bit more circuitous than I expected, the Master of International Business program has proven to be a great fit for me!
A typical day at Fletcher: Life at Fletcher is, in many ways, a constant stream of interactions with fascinating new ideas and people. A "normal" week very often involves encounters as diverse as a conversation with a friend over lunch about social entrepreneurship, a discussion with an experienced international correspondent about alternative political systems in Somalia, and a Q&A session with a former senior multinational executive about the reasons behind his company's collapse. The most common difficulty I face is how to allocate my time among so many interesting possibilities!
