Why I chose Fletcher: I came to Fletcher interested in the intersection of entrepreneurship and post-conflict development. I had an opportunity in my travels to meet and interview women entrepreneurs in Chad, Ivory Coast, and Congo. They shared concerns of livelihoods threatened by insecurity, volatile markets, and limited access to capital. The conversations I had with them sparked an interest in supporting and scaling new businesses in emerging and post-conflict markets. I wanted to develop fundamental business skills, and gain an understanding of the political and socioeconomic factors influencing business. The Master of International Business (MIB) program was a perfect fit. Its dual perspective is unique among business and international affairs programs, and allows me to accomplish my goals with one degree.  

On Fletcher’s Career Focus: I have been pleasantly surprised by the wealth of resources dedicated to career development. I expected Fletcher to be intellectually stimulating and academically rigorous (which it is!), but I did not realize the level of support devoted to professional development across all sectors. There are weekly career panels, internship presentations, and recruiting lunches, a few of which take place in foreign languages. It is fertile ground for building an international career.
