Why I chose Fletcher:  Given my previous employment as a foreign branch manager, I knew that our office performance depended as much on the understanding of global business context and ability to predict and adjust to any changes in governmental policies as on the technical skills of our employees. Therefore, when I did my research on business schools, I was looking for a program that could not only equip me with core business skills, but one that could also allow me to develop frameworks for analyzing broader international contexts in which multinational companies operate. In these terms, most traditional business curriculums seem to be very narrow and lack an analysis of the contextual environment. Also, my visits to other business schools gave me a feeling of being an outsider because I was looking for something different than a typical post-MBA job in investment banks or consulting companies. That is why, from the first moment I learned about the MIB program, I felt it was a perfect match for my skills, interests and future career plans. The combination of a business and international affairs curriculum that Fletcher provides will prepare me well for a leadership position in the global business world post graduation.

On Career Services: Career service is the key aspect in any school experience: we all enroll in master's programs because we want to advance our careers. Coming from a country where schools do not have this kind of service, and offer you little advice on your career planning, I was truly impressed by the level of support provided by Fletcher Office of Career Services (OCS). From the first week we arrived on campus, we started the Professional Development Program which gave us an overview of job searching, hiring practices, etc., and helped us to develop professional communication skills. The different sectors and industry panels held by OCS and student clubs were really helpful in getting insights into particular job types. Additionally, being a part of a small MIB group allows us to get almost personal attention through MIB career strategy groups. Career coaches, faculty and alumni are all easily accessible and eager to discuss our career plans. I can talk forever about all the resources available at school, but the point is that numerous events and activities throughout the year help you to stay focused on your job search, train you to be a better professional, and eventually get your dream employment.
