Why I chose Fletcher: Post the reset of the global economy in 2008, businesses will have to contend with a larger involvement of government. As a consequence, I believe that a core focus area for every enterprise will be to develop business policies that are in sync with regulatory policies; managing government relations will be as much a sought after skill as managing a P&L is for business leaders of the future. After a decade of managing people, products and P&Ls across the complex and volatile markets in the Middle East and in parts of Asia and Africa, I realized that my transformation from a business manager to a business leader would depend on my ability to understand and influence the interplay between businesses and governments. In keeping with my belief that one needs to go back to school once every ten years to sharpen one’s tools, I set out to look for a school that could help me fill the skill and knowledge gaps in my understanding of governmental relations, regulatory policy and its impact on businesses, and the interplay between government and business in the context of emerging markets. My search led me to discover The Fletcher School.  An inter-disciplinary approach combined with a flexible curriculum and an ability to bring the worlds of government, business and politics together in a classroom setting make the Fletcher experience unique.

On the international life I see for myself after Fletcher: Over the last decade, I have left a little bit of myself in every land that I lived and worked in and internalized a bit of that country and its culture into myself.  I started this journey with a goal to become a citizen of the world. I see the Fletcher experience as an investment that will catalyze my evolution into a global citizen. The journey has just begun.
