Pedro Lopez, 2010, Colombia

Why I chose Fletcher: As a career diplomat for a developing country like Colombia, I needed to build up a solid and broader understanding of the complexities of the global environment so that decisions can be based upon strategic and integrated reasoning. The high academic and professional standards of the faculty and the community at Fletcher provide a unique wealth of knowledge and experience to profit from in order to achieve my goals.

As an educator, I dream of continuing my social commitment to help others overcome paucity and ignorance through a critical and more integrated comprehension of the world and the interactions of societies. When I think of the kind of life I could have had if I had not had the chance to embrace a book in a classroom instead of a weapon in a mountain, I strongly renew my commitment to helping rescue future generations from the temptations of crime, violence and vice.
