Humanitarian Affairs Officer, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs - Khartoum, Sudan

What skills/knowledge did you gain at Fletcher that make you particularly marketable? One of the skills that I would never thought it would be as valuable as it it is writing. Finally all those papers make all the sense in the wold! I currently spend most of my time reading and analyzing current conflict settings, and I am great at drafting and putting together information. Fletcher taught me how important is to have a great writing skill set.

On relationships with Fletcher faculty: My relationships with Professors Vali Nasr, Michael Glennon, Antonia Chayes, and Richard Shultz have all been invaluable. Nasr gave excellent advice as a career mentor, I was enthralled by Glennon's sharing of his experiences in public service, Chayes encouraged me to pursue my dreams, and I enjoyed Shultz's classes most of all.

Something that surprised me about Fletcher: I was shocked at the incredible number of clubs, social activities, and initiatives that go on at the same time each day. It was impossible to make even half of the events offered in a week. This was a completely new model of learning and interacting at school for me as the European system does not have anything similar to this. I love it because it is a way to connect with people who have similar interests while not having to be in the same class with them.
