Fletcher capstone: The West Africa Mining Sector - Business & Legal Environment

On the flexibility of the curriculum: Before Fletcher, I had work experience in international banking and foreign affairs with a strong focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. The flexibility of the MALD has allowed me to reflect on these experiences and to combine my interest in emerging markets and economic development. Thanks to a genuinely interdisciplinary curriculum, I have been able to build upon my professional skills in finance while gaining a deeper understanding of the political and social context of emerging countries. My time at Fletcher has also been a unique opportunity to pursue some of my personal interests and to develop a real expertise on specific themes such as natural resources management in developing economies. In addition to the rigorous academic curriculum, the diversity of the student body and the vibrant intellectual life taking place in the Boston area create a unique and extremely stimulating learning environment. More broadly, the school’s international focus is a key asset to better understand the complexity of intertwined economic, political and security challenges in today’s globalized world.

On career services: The Office of Career Services (OSC) offers a wealth of resources for internship and job searches. OCS really helps students define their strategy for entering their field and provides important tips for interviews, cover letters, and resume writing. Additionally, Fletcher students and alumni are always willing to help you gather information and connections for potential employment opportunities.
