Why Fletcher: I chose Fletcher for three reasons. First, I wanted a graduate program that was rigorous in its exploration of my intended fields of study and constantly pushed me to take a critically analytical approach to the issue at hand. Second, a Fletcher education provides a rare opportunity to learn from and work with present and future contributors to current thought and policy in human rights and related fields. Third, when I visited the campus in November 2012, I was struck by the friendliness and intellectual curiosity of the Fletcher community, which seemed to me an ideal forum to engage in collaborative learning. I came back from that visit wanting to continue my conversations with current students and eager to contribute to the diverse and engaged student and academic community.

On the collaboration at Fletcher: Part of the Fletcher ethos is collaboration both inside and outside the classroom. Whether preparing a group project for a class or working on harmonies in an Ambassachords rehearsal, the Fletcher spirit is about working together with fellow students and harnessing each person's knowledge and skills to achieve a common goal. I feel the strong sense of community that I had read and heard so much about prior to coming here. People are friendly and welcoming and one of the most fantastic things about campus life is the number of interesting conversations you find yourself having on any day of the week with people from all over the world. Whether over a quick lunch in Mugar cafe or outside Ginn library, my horizons are constantly being expanded and I am very much looking forward to the next 18 months of thoughtful and lively debate!
