Sofie Fredlund-Blomst, 2014, United States & Sweden

Why I chose Fletcher: I found my decision to attend Fletcher to be rather straightforward. The balance between academic rigor and professional training, combined with a truly international community, creates unparalleled opportunities for personal and professional growth. Fletcher’s ability to produce global leaders who are tackling some of the world’s most pressing issues from multiple angles is a strong attestation to this balance. Fletcher is also known for its sense of community, and this is something that extends well beyond Medford. In fact, following my admission I was invited to attend an alumni gathering with Dean Bosworth in San Francisco. I was the only new admit in a room full of alumni, and was so eager to hear about their experiences both during and after Fletcher. What surprised me was that the alumni were just as excited to meet me and to welcome me into the larger Fletcher community.

What has surprised me: One of the things that has surprised me most about Fletcher is the strength of the Professional Development Program (PDP) and the Office of Career Services at large. There are endless resources available to assist students with internships and employment opportunities following graduation, including resume and cover letter samples, information sessions, sector specific events, career coaches, and the alumni network.
