Why I chose Fletcher: After five years in the
multilateral system, I realized that the time was right to prepare
myself for the challenges that I will face in my future career;
challenges that would be most adequately met from a rigorous, cutting
edge and collaborative community that is The Fletcher School. The
opportunity to design and tailor a curriculum that reflected my own
needs, combined with the openness and easy to approach nature of a
faculty, was the perfect combination. Courses such as Rule of Law in
Post Conflict Societies and Cultural Change Development, encapsulate
historical and current issues whilst training our minds to lay out
potential road maps for the future. Since coming to Fletcher, I can
only say that I feel at home. The rigor of intellect, the experiences
of the faculty and my classmates, the eagerness and never ceasing
efforts of the Office of Career Services, have confirmed in my mind
that I have made the right choice. The knowledge I gain, experiences I
have, and friendships I make will be pivotal in helping me realize my
future career aspirations.
On the international life I see for myself after Fletcher:
Post graduation, I intend to return to the multilateral system, either
at the World Bank or the United Nations. I am determined to continue
utilizing my knowledge of Latin America to focus on the major current
and future issues that will face the region, such as the promotion of
democracy and its associated institutions, state modernization in
addition to sector specific economic development, and human security.
