How I first learned about Fletcher: Searching for
a suitable way to develop my professional skills, I noticed an article
in a legal magazine about Fletcher, written by an alumnus. After some
research, I emailed the author, who later called me and
enthusiastically depicted his Fletcher experience. This all happened in
the midst of the financial crisis—he took 45 minutes at 11 pm to speak
with me before returning to work! This showed me that Fletcher is
about more than just providing professional skill development; it’s a
place where people go out of their way for each other.
How Fletcher has broadened my global perspective:
Fletcher is broadening my global perspective every single day. I am
constantly involved in heated discussions about many different issues
that start during class and last throughout the afternoon into our
study groups and beyond. Everyone has such diverse
backgrounds—businessmen, development aid workers, professional
trainers, future scholars, soldiers—but we are all looking to
specialize or to change our career paths. With all my interactions,
it’s impossible not to look at the world with differing perspectives
each day.
