On Career Services: I was surprised at the level of
support from the Office of Career Services. In my previous academic
experience, OCS was a separate entity that was very “hands-off”. At
Fletcher, the Professional Development Program is actually integrated
into the first year curriculum, and there are weekly visits from alumni
representing a wide variety of career fields. The OCS at Fletcher is
actively dedicated to helping students not just in finding the next
job, but discovering the right career path.
How my experience at Fletcher has changed the way I look at the world:
There is a sense of possibility embedded deep within the Fletcher
community. Many times in development work, there is a distinct threat
of being overtaken by cynicism and hopelessness. However, the optimism
prevalent among the Fletcher faculty, administration, alumni, and
students provides energy to tackle the thorniest problems. Within the
collective Fletcher community, the belief that we are developing the
skill set to truly change the world is infectious.
