Why I chose Fletcher: I chose Fletcher because I
felt that I would be more than a number or a student in a large
classroom. At Fletcher, I am first and foremost a person, someone who
is part of a small, intimate community of people who share common
values. I was also attracted to Fletcher for its extremely flexible
curriculum which gives me the opportunity to learn basic business tools
and apply them to crucial social issues such as poverty eradication and
urban development.
Something that has surprised me about Fletcher:
What is surprising about Fletcher is that no matter how new and unknown
your interest, you will always find people that share it and you will
have the opportunity to attend a speech from one of the leading figures
in that field. When I arrived at Fletcher, I had little hope that I
would find many people interested in social business, but I was wrong.
In my first month at school, I discovered quite a few people who not
only shared my interest, but who had professional experience in that
field. Moreover, I was able to attend a great lecture of Mechai
Viravaidya, one of the most inspiring social entrepreneurs around.
