Something that surprised me about Fletcher: I was surprised by the wide variety of courses offered at Fletcher,
ranging from diplomacy to business, and from law to history. As a
result, I was torn by having to choose only five of them each semester.
Most courses have small classes, which enables personal communication
with faculty and each other. I was also pleasantly surprised that
Fletcher students could enroll in the classes at other universities and
those students can take class at Fletcher as well.
How Fletcher has broadened my global perspective: My
horizons were broadened by the interaction with my fellow classmates who
have truly diverse backgrounds in terms of citizenship, languages
spoken, past experiences, and career goals. When someone says they had
overseas experience in a certain country, it is mostly likely
meaningful work, study, or volunteer activities; when someone claims to
speak a foreign language, they mean it and can speak it fluently. I
enjoyed learning from their unique perspectives and accomplishing tasks
with them despite differing views and personalities.
