Why I chose Fletcher:
My experience in peacebuilding has reinforced my determination to pursue a scholar-practitioner career in conflict resolution. I chose Fletcher because I believe this school is a perfect fit for me thanks to the amazing hands-on experience of its faculty, the cross-disciplinary approach to the curriculum, and the power of Fletcher’s alumni network. At Fletcher, I am building a solid theoretical background and specific technical skills that will improve my practice in the field.
How I plan to use my experience at Fletcher to make a difference in the world:
As a consultant for the Burundi Leadership Training Program and the WWICS, I have facilitated peacebuilding programs for government officials, UN military observers, ex-combatants, leaders of political parties, and High Command of the Army and the Police. My last project to date is a conflict resolution curriculum for the Ministry of Education of Burundi targeting secondary schools. At Fletcher, I am working on a thesis on the role of peace education in conflict prevention. I have the great privilege to work with Professor Babbitt and Professor Johnstone, and I hope that the findings of this research will raise donors’ interests in formal peace education programs in fragile and conflict-affected states.
