Why I chose Fletcher: Fletcher is extremely diverse, like the world around us. There are people with different backgrounds: lawyers, international businessmen, diplomats and artists. Working together to solve current issues has enhanced my learning experience. The challenges we face due to our different perspectives only prepares me more for my future career. Fletcher has a nurturing atmosphere which welcomes all students to share their backgrounds and learn from one another. In addition, living in Boston is a great advantage: an international city, networking opportunities, and some of the world’s leading academic institutions.
How I plan to use my experience at Fletcher to make a difference in the world: After graduation, I will continue my career as a public official in the Japanese government. I will use my education at Fletcher to help the government make public policy decisions both domestically and internationally. From the group work and numerous case studies for classes, I have learned how to negotiate and manage outcomes in various situations. Working with classmates from many backgrounds has helped me to develop skills which will assist me in my government work in the future.
