The classroom experience: My favorite class is Development Economics. I'm amazed with the fact that Professor Schaffner brings a lot of empirical and simulation examples to class which allow us to apply the economics models we are learning in the course. The biggest problem people have with economics is that they seldom see how to apply theory to their daily job. Professor Schaffner is great at explaining how different economic models would be useful for your daily work in international development firms. I'm also amazed at how qualified the faculty is, both generally and in their specific field. They really know how to bring the hottest topics in the world into classroom and teach us how to apply the models to analyze cases.

Career Services/Professional Development Program: Throughout my Bachelor’s and Master’s studies outside of Fletcher and my years in the workforce, I have never seen a program like Fletcher’s Professional Development Program. The PDP is engaging, participative, and always brings high-quality content to the table. I think that PDP partially addresses one of the biggest problems that universities in the U.S. are experiencing right now: low employment for their alumni in the fields that they are interested in. Investing in initiatives like the PDP is so useful for students who need to plan in advance to present themselves again the labor market. We know that International Relations is not the easiest field to place yourself in, but PDP is a great resource to help students do just that.
