Professor Named Human Rights Ambassador
Lee Jong-hoon, a professor at Yonsei University’s Graduate School of International Studies, was appointed an ambassador for human rights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced Monday.
As an ambassador-at-large, Lee is to represent his country internationally to resolve human rights issues both domestically and internationally. He will serve for a one-year term while his term can be extended for another year.
Lee is acknowledged for his contributions to protecting the rights of North Korean defectors and supporting women who were forced into sexual slavery for frontline Japanese soldiers during World War II….
…Lee received his bachelor’s degree in international relations and history at Tufts University in 1984. He received his master’s degree of arts in law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1986 [sic]. Lee obtained his doctorate from University of Oxford in modern diplomatic history in 1992.
