Sachiyo Yanagi , 2013

Sachiyo Yanagi received her Bachelor of Laws from Keio University (summa cum laude), and Juris Doctor from Hitotsubashi University.  She worked as an intern at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in June 2006.  After working as a legal apprentice at the Legal Training and Research Institute of the Supreme Court of Japan, she joined the law firm of Mori Hamada & Matsumoto as an attorney-at-law in 2008.  In this position, she worked mainly in the area of asset management, where she often contributed to the team by handling establishment of investment funds domiciled abroad and offered to Japanese investors.  She was also engaged in M&A, capital markets and litigation.  She also regularly provided legal advice to foreign and Japanese companies.  At The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, she is interested in studying international financial law and international relations with a scholarship from her firm.
