Kiyomi Kasai is a Senior Policy Officer at Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), an economic organization representing about 1,400 businesses of all industrial sectors in Japan, including leading corporations, industry associations and local chambers (2002-Present). At Keidanren, she led the promotion of Japan’s trade policy for businesses, including the negotiations of the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) Agreement and WTO Doha Round.
Before enrolling the Fletcher school, Kiyomi completed a LLM (2014) in International Legal Studies with World Trade Organization certificate at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. as a Fulbright Grantee. Right after, she joined the law firm of White & Case in Washington D.C, where she assisted in providing international clients with advice related to trade policy in the U.S, Japan and ongoing international trade and services negotiations.
Kiyomi’s main area of interest at Fletcher is trade and investment law and policy, including the policy making process in the context of international trade and services negotiations.
Along with the legal education in the U.S, she acquired a Master of Law (2002) which focuses on International and Economic Law from Hitotsubashi University, Graduate School of Law, after the completion a Bachelor of Law (2000) at Hitotsubashi University, in Tokyo.
