Joel El-Qalqili is a German lawyer who specializes in the regulation of investment funds. He recieved his law degree (First State Examination) from Bucerius Law School in Hamburg.
After graduation he worked (part time) for a major European law firm in Frankfurt (Corporate Finance) and Berlin (M&A).
During his traineeship (Referendariat) he worked with a civil judge, a state prosecutor, the German Federal Ministry of Finance (Department for Investment Fund Regulation) and a major corporate law firm in Berlin (Real Estate Transactions) and Frankfurt (Fund Structuring and Regulatory).
His extracurricular activities include writing fiction and rowing. Joel has won the u23 World Championship twice and various national titles and international medals. During his year at Fletcher he would like to pursue an idea for a non-profit project in the education sector focused on young people in the Middle East.
Joel has a particular interest in Islamic Finance.
