Shannon Bouton is a Practice Manager in McKinsey & Company’s Detroit office. She is a leader in McKinsey’s Sustainability and Resource Productivity Practice where she is the Global Practice Manager. She also manages McKinsey’s client service work on Sustainable Cities, and the start-up of McKinsey’s Special Initiative on Cities. Shannon has served state and city governments, non-profits, and public utility clients on energy efficiency strategy and program design, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and sustainability strategy. She is a co-author on several McKinsey publications focused on energy efficiency and city performance including the recent How to Make a City Great report. Prior to joining McKinsey, Shannon was a field biologist. She has served as an environmental consultant to grass roots non-profits in the Brazilian Pantanal, and to the Florida Army Corp of Engineers. Shannon holds a Ph.D. in Conservation Biology from the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan, a Master of Science in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida, Gainesville.
