Anthony Walton

As Vice Chairman, Americas, for Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Walton is responsible for the Bank's relationships with its key corporate and financial clients, as well as strategic direction for the Americas. He also plays a critical role in developing businesses between the Americas and Asia, in particular China, for the Bank and its clients.

Mr. Walton has over 40 years of commercial and investment banking experience. He started his banking career with the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York in 1966 and undertook multiple assignments worldwide in his 16-year tenure. His final role at Chase was Senior Vice President and CEO of the Global Trade Finance Group, which he founded in more than 40 countries.

From 1983 to 1993, Mr. Walton was Chief General Manager, Americas and Europe, of Westpac Banking Corporation and served on the main Board of Directors of Westpac in Sydney, Australia.

After his time at Westpac, Mr. Walton served as CEO, separately, of two private investment banks – one owned by members of the Wal-Mart Walton family, and then the Caspian Group, an emerging markets investment bank in 20 countries. In early 2000, he co-founded an internet bank, Effinity Financial Corp., and exited successfully. Mr. Walton was also a partner at McFarland Dewey and Co., a corporate advisory firm and broker-dealer based in New York City.

Mr. Walton is active in many other corporate and philanthropic endeavors. He acts as a Senior Advisor to the New Hope Group, Chengdu, China, one of the largest private enterprises in China with interests in agribusiness, finance and real estate.

He is an independent trustee of The Capital Management Equity Fund, New York, and serves on the board of New York City’s Financial Services Advisory Committee, the American Australian Association, and the Episcopal Charities of New York City. He is an active Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, The Asia Society, and the Pilgrims. He is a member of The Links Club, Union League Club and Ausable Club, where he serves as a trustee.

Mr. Walton was born in London, England, received his B.A. from Haverford College and his M.B.A. from the Wharton Graduate School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. He is married and resides in New York City.
