Residencies. Intensive classroom experiences that provide the foundation for building teams. And friendships.
Three residency sessions are the core of the GMAP year. Each GMAP course begins with face-to-face sessions with the faculty. In the classroom at The Fletcher School during the first residency, participants begin to understand the theories that will underpin the courses throughout the entire term. Students also engage with classmates and hear the many perspectives that will shape the discussions in the weeks to come.
The second-or midyear- residency takes place in January at an international location where students attend lectures for the second and third term courses, as well as connect with Fletcher alumni and learn from local experts, politicians and thought-leaders. Past classes have met with the former Minister Mentor of Singapore, the former Prime Minister of Canada, the Prosecutor for the International Criminal Court, a Member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank, the President of Estonia, a Minister of State from the United Arab Emirates, and a former President of Cyprus, along with many Foreign Ministers, Ambassadors and leaders in business and development. Furthermore, GMAP hosts an alumni weekend during the international residencies so as to offer our alumni community the opportunity to meet and interact with one another and the new class, as well as continue their learning through executive education sessions.
So far, GMAP has visited the following cities for our international residencies:
|Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Mexico City, Mexico
San Jose, Costa Rica
The Hague, The Netherlands
After a year of study, the class returns to The Fletcher School to complete third term coursework and defend masters' theses before graduating and joining the network of GMAP alumni around the world.
