Dear GMAP Alumni and students,
Greetings from GMAP! The GMAP team has just returned from Berlin, where we had our midyear residency and a wonderful Alumni Weekend in the shadow of the Brandenburg Gate.
In Berlin, we had intense discussions on Germany's history, its present role in Europe, and the future of Germany's and Europe's role in world affairs. This was accompanied of course by the usual complement of great conversations, hearty meals, laughter and fellowship. For the alumni who attended: Thank you for coming! And for everybody, please join us in Washington DC for our next Alumni Weekend: GMAPing the Future on October 4-5.
Beginning with an opening reception and dinner on Friday evening, our Alumni Weekend in DC will feature a day of panel discussions led by GMAPers at the Embassy of Singapore. The weekend will close with a lovely reception at 4 pm that day. We are incredibly proud of our GMAP community's vast treasure of collective expertise and experience, and we hope to delve into key topics of the day: Developments in the Middle East, Cybersecurity, the Future of International Development and Foreign Assistance, and the State of the Emerging Markets. Each panel is put together by GMAPers, for you, the GMAPers. Register for the Weekend today!
We are ending our Alumni Weekend activities by 4.30 pm on Saturday, Oct 5, so you can join us at Fletcher's 80th Anniversary Gala later that evening at the Mellon Auditorium in DC. This year, Fletcher celebrates its 80th Anniversary, and it is a celebration not just of the School's history, but also of the achievements of its many alumni around the world. At the Fletcher 80th Anniversary Gala, we also welcome our new Dean, James Stavridis, who began his term at Fletcher this summer. Dean Stavridis is eager to meet you at this event.
October 4-5 promises to be a weekend of festivities, nostalgia, learning and new friendship. We eagerly anticipate seeing all of you again in October.
