Rabia Zafar


Rabia's research looks at violence in Pakistan and considers why certain types of violence become more prevalent at particular times. Rabia has conducted fieldwork in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar and is currently writing her dissertation entitled, “Enterprising Extremists – Crime, Religion, and Political Violence in Pakistan.” Before beginning graduate studies, Rabia worked as an intelligence officer at the US Defense Intelligence Agency and as a researcher at Northeastern University. Rabia holds a BA from the University of Virginia and an MIA from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
