Mihir Mankad is an award-winning Lecturer in Communication at Fletcher and leads major public speaking, communication and media initiatives at the school. His flagship course, The Arts of Communication, has become one of the highest enrolled electives at the school over the past five years, with over 500 course enrollees, including a record 70+ cross-registrants from Harvard & MIT graduate schools. He has been nominated for the Paddock Teaching award at Fletcher, and has received the Tufts University Teaching with Technology award. This university-wide honor was awarded to 10 faculty members from over 200 nominated and over 1,000 total faculty members at the school. Mr. Mankad also serves as the Deputy Director of the Edward R. Murrow Media Center, training high profile speakers at annual TED style events, hosting key international media guests such as Anderson Cooper and Lester Holt, spearheading a new John Oliver inspired Fletcher TV news show, and training key faculty members on speaking to media. He is also an integral part of Fletcher’s executive education offerings, teaching and receiving some of the highest faculty ratings in the Greek LPADD (Leadership Program in Diplomacy and Defense), the Indian Foreign Service program (involving Ambassadors and Counsel Generals), and the FLPFI Financial Inclusion program for Central Bank Heads from over 20 countries. Mr. Mankad has also been invited to judge several public speaking competitions and events at Tufts University and around the world, has taught required courses for Masters students at the Friedman School of Nutrition and Ed.L.D. students at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and served as a keynote faculty speaker at the Tufts South Asia alumni event in 2018 as well as at Fletcher Reunion in 2017. Mihir’s career spans a rich and diverse array of relevant fields, including media, management consulting, and organizational leadership. Previously, he served as a national television anchor in both business news and sports with top channels in India such as NDTV, Zee Sports, and the national public broadcaster, Doordarshan. In addition to hosting daily prime-time news bulletins over a period of four years, he was involved in anchoring some of the most viewed television events in Indian history, including live broadcasts of the 2008 Olympics, 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, and the 2011 Cricket World Cup on DD National and DD Sports. These broadcasts had daily viewership in excess of 30 million and were aired in over 70 countries outside India. Mr. Mankad was frequently invited as a media expert at several events during his time on national television and after, and has guest lectured on media, communication and leadership at some of the most prestigious universities around the world. Mihir’s pre-television career includes strategy consulting for key media and government clients at top consulting firm McKinsey and Company in India. He also worked at Bain and Company’s San Francisco office, serving senior organization leaders of Fortune 500 as well as up and coming media and technology firms. Mr. Mankad’s most noted leadership position was as the Deputy Country Director of The Clinton Foundation India office. Leading the CHAI (Clinton Health Access Initiative) country operations in pediatric HIV, nutrition and maternal health, he was responsible for a team of over 30 international professionals and 200 NGO’s to provide life-saving medication and services to over 30,000 children with HIV throughout the country. Mr. Mankad holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Psychology from Stanford University, where he was on the national championship tennis team, an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, where he was on the Dean’s Honors list, and a mid-career MPA as a Mason Fellow and Presidential Scholar from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
