  1. Globalization, Innovation, and Inequality: The 2018 Leontief Prize

    4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

    GDAE will award its 2018 Leontief Prize to Mariana Mazzucato and Branko Milanovic. This year's award recognizes Dr. Mazzucato for her path-breaking research on the positive role of governments in fostering innovation and Dr. Milanovic for his vital contributions to measuring and responding to global income inequality. The event will include a ceremony and lectures by the awardees on the theme of "Globalization, Innovation and Inequality." A light dinner reception will follow the ceremony.

  2. Queering and Honoring the Flags

    5:00 PM – 5:45 PM

    This event honors the newest additions to the Hall of Flags: the transgender flag and the newest pride flag. The presence of these emblems is a symbolic declaration that the LGBTQIA community is welcome and is an intrinsic part of the Fletcher School global fabric. Moreover, with these flags we extend particular appreciation and love towards trans individuals and people of color. The event will include some rainbow REMARKS, MUSIC, POETRY and PERFORMANCES from the Fletcher and Tufts LGBTQIA community. Baked goods will be in abundance.

  3. IraQueer with Amir Ashour

    6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

    Amir Ashour is the founder and executive director of IraQueer; Iraq’s first and only LGBT+ led organization in Iraq. As human rights defender with 8 years of experience, he has been working with Iraqi and International human rights organizations including Outright Action International, Madre, and Nature Iraq. Amir has been focusing on human rights of LGBT+ people, women, sex workers, and other marginalized groups. He’s been nominated for several human rights awards including The Raoul Wallenberg Academy Prize and David Kato Voice and Vision Award. He’s also currently getting his masters degree in human rights at Columbia University.
