The Behrakis Family Endowed Lecture Series is honored to welcome Haris Lalacos, Greek Ambassador to the United States.
Ambassador Lalacos has represented the Hellenic Republic in Washington, D.C. since 2016. He has served as Minister-Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Greece in Ankara, heading the Embassy as Charge d’ Affaires a.i. from April until December 2012.
In January 2013, he assumed duties as Ambassador and he was the Head of the Liaison Office of the Hellenic Republic in Skopje until May 2016.
Prior to that he served as Consul General of Greece in Sydney, Australia and in Alexandria, Egypt. He has worked in several positions in the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as previously serving as Greece’s Counselor for Political Affairs at the Embassy in Washington. He studied History at Amherst College and International Relations at The Johns Hopkins University. Admiral James Stavridis, Dean of The Fletcher School will host and moderate the talk.
The Behrakis Famiy Endowed Lecture Series, within the Constantine G. Karamanlis Chair in Hellenic and European Studies, is presented annually to promote the understanding of Greece's domestic and international affairs.
