  1. Forging a Career as a ‘Pracademic': In Conversation with Mark Sedra

    Come hear Dr. Mark Sedra discuss his career moving between policy and practice in the critical field of governance and security sector reform. The co-founder of the Centre for Security Governance, Dr. Sedra is currently the President and Research Director of the Canadian International Council (CIC), an independent, member-based council established to strengthen Canada’s role in global affairs. Dr. Sedra’s research has focused on peace building and state building processes in fragile and conflict-affected states. He has conducted research on several countries and regions, including Afghanistan, Northern Ireland, the Middle East and the Balkans. Mark has been a consultant to governments, intergovernmental organizations, and NGOs, including the United Nations, Global Affairs Canada and the UK Department for International Development. In 2012, he established the Security Governance Group, a private research consulting firm, which specializes in international security issues.

Elizabeth is the Co-Founder, President and CEO of WeConnect International, a corporate led-nonprofit that helps to empower women business owners to succeed in global markets. Elizabeth's work supports women entrepreneurs in over 100 countries by connecting them with a global network of large businesses. This roundtable is a unique opportunity before the Fletcher-wide award ceremony to listen to Elizabeth speak about ways to ensure inclusive growth and job creation.

    Please join the Russia and Eurasia Program for a dinner and lecture by Alexander Hug, Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine. He will discuss “Dilemmas for a Civilian Unarmed Observer Mission in a Conflict Area.” Attendance is by registration only.
