    IBGC & The Fares Center Presents: "Social Enterprise & Venture Philanthropy in the Arab World: Recipes for Success from First Refugee Food Truck"

    Teresa Chahine is the social entrepreneurship program leader at the Center for Health and the Global Environment. She is the author of Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship, a comprehensive reference guide for social innovators based on her course at Harvard. Teresa divides her time between Boston and Beirut, where she helped launch Alfanar, the first venture philanthropy in the Arab countries.     Screening of "The New Barbarianism"

    The New Barbarianism is a CSIS Global Health Policy Center original feature documentary (58 minutes) that examines the crisis, its causes, the limited international response and possible ways forward through dozens of interviews and original footage obtained from inside Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan.  It builds on several years of prior GHPC work on the intersection of health and security, the role of militaries, and the human tragedies seen in Syria and Yemen.

    FIS The Silent Genocide: Rohingya Muslims & The Crisis in Myanmar

    The Fletcher Islamic Society is bringing together a panel to discuss the state of the Rohingya crisis that has displaced over 400,000 people since August. Join us for a discussion of this ongoing humanitarian disaster and possible paths forward.

    Want to learn more about the realities of working in a certain industry, or the opportunities in a particular region? Join us for the “Conversation with Alumni” series, hosted by the MIB program. We invite MIB alumni to join us for Skype calls with small groups of students, so that they may answer your questions and share experiences about the realities of their work. On Wednesday, November 29 we welcome Celeste Le Roux, MIB 2014, to speak about her work as Consultant at Bain & Co. in Johannesburg, South Africa. Students from all Fletcher degree programs are invited to attend.

    "Mugabe is Gone. What's Next for Zimbabwe?" A Talk by Todd Moss

    12:30 PM – 1:45 PM

    Todd Moss is senior fellow at the Center for Global Development where his research focuses on US-Africa relations, energy policy, and private investment. Moss is also a nonresident scholar at the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute and an adjunct professor at Georgetown. He served as COO/VP at the Center from 2009-2016. Moss is currently working on electrification in Africa, cash transfers in new oil economies, and ideas for upgrading US development finance tools. In the past he led CGD’s work on Nigerian debt, reconstruction in Zimbabwe, the future of the World Bank’s soft loan IDA, and the African Development Bank.
