Shakleina has served as a Leading Research Associate since 1972 at the Institute of the USA and Canada Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences, where she earned a PhD in World History and International Relations and became a Professor of Political Science. She has over 200 publications on contemporary international relations, American and Russian foreign policy, Russian-American relations, American think tanks, Russian studies in the United States, and American studies in Russia. The event will serve as a forerunner to the Fletcher-MGIMO Conference on U.S.-Russia Relations on November 16, 2017 http://sites.tufts.edu/mgimo/
