    Come learn about how to draft a proposal for short-term consulting/freelance consulting work in any sector from a Fletcher alum. Key takeaways: • Recognizing a proposal opportunity. • Writing a proposal, including the essential components of a proposal and mistakes to avoid. • Getting paid, including how to calculate a fair hourly rate for yourself. • Avoiding the big dangers, including scope creep and handling taxes.

    NAFTA: Trade Negotiations and Implications on Food and Agriculture

    Join the Fletcher Food Policy Group and the International Trade Group as they host a lunchtime round table discussion with Kevin J. Brosch, lawyer and consultant in the areas of international and U.S. trade law, and food and agricultural policy for the past 35 years. Kevin will speak about his experience participating in agricultural negotiations for NAFTA as well as present day implications of what re-negotiation NAFTA could mean for the food and agricultural industry and the American consumer.

    The first event of the South Asian New Year series, this is a talk by Janet Kim on migration as a livelihood strategy in times of conflict, and also as a way to opt out of violence.

    Fink Distinguished Alumni Speakers Series: Defense Expert Robert Bell (F70)

    11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

    Robert G. Bell is CEO of National Security Counsel (NSC), a consulting firm. Mr. Bell most recently served as the Senior Civilian Representative of the Secretary of Defense in Europe and the Defense Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to NATO. He has served as NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defense Investment, and has worked on the White House National Security Council, and the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations and Armed Services. He is a graduate of The U.S. Air Force Academy and The Fletcher School.

    Ambassador Barbara Bodine: Geoffrey and Cyrena Fink Distinguished Alumni Speakers Series

    Join retired Ambassador Barbara Bodine (F71) as she shares stories and insights on her career as a U.S. diplomat. Ambassador Bodine worked primarily in Southwest Asia and the Arabian Peninsula, and was Deputy Chief of Mission in Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion in 1990. The Fink Distinguished Alumni Speakers Series' brings alumni to campus for conversation and casual networking with students.

    The Future of U.S.-Russia Relations

    Join Dr. Andrey Baykov and Dr. Christopher Miller on Friday, April 14th for a discussion on the future of U.S.-Russia Relations! Dr. Baykov is Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs and Associate Professor of International Affairs at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and Dr. Miller is Associate Director of the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy at Yale University. Prof. Paul Berkman will moderate the discussion and facilitate Q&A with the audience. All are welcome to attend!
