Long before the current Syrian refugee crisis, Boston has been the home of communities originating from the Eastern Mediterranean.
The collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the rise of the nation-state led to the displacement of many. Armenians, Greeks, Syrians, Lebanese, Turks, Palestinians, and Jews from the region have come to Boston at various times and are an integral part of the city’s history and development. This workshop seeks to engage experts and historians with members of these communities by looking at their common history.
