“The Global Special Operations Forces Network”

MG Bennet Sacolick enlisted in the United States Army in 1981 and was assigned as a machine gunner in the 2nd Ranger Battalion prior to attending Officer Candidate School and commissioning as an Infantry Officer in June of 1982.

His first assignment was with the 1st Battalion, 509th Airborne Battalion Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy, where he served as an Infantry and Support Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Battalion Motor Officer. He then attended the Advanced Infantry Officers’ Course, the Special Forces Qualification Course, the Special Forces Combat Divers Course, and the Defense Language Institute for Spanish before reporting to 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Davis, Panama in January of 1987. As a Detachment Commander, Captain Sacolick participated in Operation Just Cause, counter-narcotics operation in Peru, Military Advisor in El Salvador, and numerous other Latin American deployments.

In December of 1990, CPT Sacolick volunteered for, and was selected to serve with the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, Fort Bragg where he served as an Assistant Operations Officer, Assault and Sniper Troop Commander, Deputy Operations Officer, Squadron Commander and ultimately the Unit Commander. During this time he participated in Operation Desert Storm, Saudi Arabia; Operation Task Force Ranger, Somalia; Operation Joint Endeavor & Joint Forge, Bosnia; Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan; and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

MG Sacolick also served as Chief of Current Operations, Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg; Deputy Director for Defense at the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center; and both the Deputy and Commanding General of the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, the Army’s Special Operations Center of Excellence.

MG Sacolick’s military education is consistent with that of a career Special Forces officer and includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Francisco State University, a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University and an Army Fellowship at the Central Intelligence Agency.

His military awards and decorations include: Army Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal with one oak-leaf cluster, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with two oak-leaf clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with one oak-leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal with two oak-leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with one oak-leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge with star, Master Parachutist Badge, Military Free Fall Parachutist Badge, Special Operations Combat Diver Badge, Ranger Tab and the Special Forces Tab.
