  1. Toys for Tots: Fletcher Veterans Toy Drive

    Donate a new, unwrapped toy this Christmas to Toys for Tots, a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program. Toys go to local, less fortunate children.

  2. ISSP Luncheon Lecture Series: “Obama's Second Term and New Uses of American Power”

    The International Security Studies Program is hosting a luncheon lecture by David E. Sanger, chief Washington correspondent of The New York Time, titled " Obama's Second Term and New Uses of American Power." Join us for a candid discussion of the challenges facing Obama's national security team in his second term and the surprising new forms of American power he may use to confront them. Mr. Sanger will focus on the Middle East: the evolving response to the Arab Spring, the dynamics of US-Iran confrontation, and whether the Administration will address Syria's deepening conflict.   5. UN and Peacekeeping Operations Mr. Edmond Mulet, Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations

    Mr. Mulet (Guatemala) was re-appointed by the Secretary-General as Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations in 1 June 2011. He had most recently served as Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), where he was deployed in the immediate aftermath of the January 2010 earthquake, and led the United Nations’ contribution to the country’s recovery, from the provision of humanitarian assistance to reconstruction to the recent holding of presidential elections. Mr. Mulet was educated in Guatemala, Canada, the US and Switzerland. In addition to his public service, he worked for many years as a journalist and as a legal counsellor to public institutions and for the private sector, including as manager of several private enterprises and as senior partner in a legal consulting firm.
