The Fletcher School

As Director of the Office of Career Services, Phillip oversees the general management and strategic direction of the career office, ensuring the OCS delivers consistently high quality programs and services to the many different constituents supported by the office: students, employers, alumni, faculty and the greater Fletcher community. Phillip also directs new and existing employer relationship management/development as well as leading workshops for students focused on the "networked" job search.

Immediately prior to joining Fletcher, Phillip spent six years as the Associate Director of the MIT Sloan School of Management Career Development Office. Prior to joining the Sloan School, Phillip worked for fourteen years in private industry in senior management roles in sales, marketing and operations for several multinational, high-tech companies. Much of his work experience has been overseas in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Phillip holds a Master of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird), and a BA in English and German from Colorado State University. He has studied abroad both in Japan and Germany.

Cynthia coaches both 1^st and 2^nd year students primarily interested in non-profit/NGOs as well as International Organizations. Cynthia also plans, organizes and implements the annual New York City Career Information Trip.

In addition to coaching students, Cynthia also serves as a faculty and student club liaison and performs employer outreach with a focus on the following areas:

• Economic Development/World Bank
• HR Development
• Human Rights
• Humanitarian Aid (includes Refugee/Migration Affairs)
• International Organizations
• International Public Law (including Democratization)
• Non-Profit Management

Before joining Fletcher, Cynthia was a counselor at Northeastern University's (NU) MBA Career Center where she assisted graduate students and alumni with career development strategies and managed a two-semester career education course. Before NU, Cynthia was based in Washington, DC and held human resources and project management positions in the domestic government and emerging markets consulting practices of Arthur Andersen and BearingPoint. Her experience includes four years development consulting experience focused on USAID and World Bank projects in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Cindy began her career as a project coordinator for an environmental non-profit organization, The World Resources Institute.

Cynthia received a joint BA in Political Science and International Studies from Michigan State University and an MA in International Relations from The George Washington University.

Helen Anderson works part-time coaching both 1^st and 2^nd year students primarily interested in the private sector.

In addition to coaching students, Helen also serves as a faculty and student club liaison and performs employer outreach with a focus on the following areas:

• Journalism/Media/Public Relations

Helen has been actively involved in supporting the Fletcher students in their career management since she joined the school in 1992 as the Director of Internship Programs. Before coming to Fletcher, Helen worked at a healthcare consulting firm in the Boston area. Previously, she worked for eight years at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, most recently as the Administrator for Medical Affairs. Helen is currently the Vice-Chairman of the board of Faulkner Hospital. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Tufts Associated Health Maintenance Organization and is a corporator at the Dedham Institution for Savings in Dedham, Massachusetts.

Helen received a B.A. from Cornell University and an MBA in health administration from Columbia University.

Branden coaches both 1st and 2nd year students primarily interested in the public sector. Branden also plans, organizes and implements the annual Washington, DC Career Information Trip.

In addition to coaching students, Branden also serves as a faculty and student club liaison and performs employer outreach with a focus on the following areas:

Before joining Fletcher, Branden was a career counselor at Harvard Divinity School’s (HDS) Office of Career Services where he assisted graduate students and alumni and managed career events and technology. Before HDS, Branden was a senior consultant for Brill Neumann Associates, a search firm specializing in executive recruitment for universities, medical centers and research institutes. His experience includes work as an investigative researcher for the Office for Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and as an academic advisor to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. Branden began his career as a program assistant at WorldTeach, based at the Center for International Development at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Branden received a BA in religion and music from St. Olaf College and an MTS in Religion, Human Rights and Government from Harvard Divinity School.

As Recruitment Manager, My is responsible for identifying, contacting and marketing Fletcher to recruiters and other hiring managers in the private, public and non-profit sectors to cultivate internships and full-time career opportunities for Fletcher students. She also manages on-going relationships with existing employers which includes organizing and hosting clients for on-campus activities and facilitates communication between employers and students. She can also provide assistance to students with Fletcher Career Central and Inside Fletcher.

Before joining Fletcher, My worked as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission at Bentley University where she worked closely with prospective students and evaluated their candidacy to the University. In this role, she traveled both domestically and internationally to represent the University at high schools and college fairs to counsel students through the application process, coordinated Open House programs, and supervised Admission Fellows. Prior to Bentley, My worked as a Finance Administrator at Coldwell Banker, supporting the Sales Manager, Administrative Manager and Sales Associates with the company’s financial needs.

To date, My has traveled to over 15 states and 12 countries. She received a BA in Studies of World Literature and Asian Studies with a concentration in International Relations from the College of the Holy Cross and spent a semester abroad in Beijing, China during her studies.

Sarah Stockwell works part-time focusing on the career education curriculum at The Fletcher School.

As the former Director of Employer Outreach at Fletcher, Sarah combines her knowledge of the student and employer needs with her expertise in employee training and development to manage the career education curriculum at Fletcher.

Sarah joined Fletcher from Forrester Research, Inc., a technology research firm, where she worked most recently as a senior consultant in learning and growth. In this role, Sarah assessed employee needs, created development programs, and delivered and facilitated training sessions. Prior to this, Sarah worked as the human resources manager in Amsterdam for three years helping to establish Forrester's European headquarters. Sarah began her career as a buyer in Bloomingdale's New York, NY offices. In addition to the Netherlands, Sarah has lived abroad in Hong Kong and has studied abroad in France and Italy.

Sarah received a B.A. cum laude in American Studies and minor in Architectural Studies from Tufts University.

As Staff Assistant, Molly is the first person students meet when they walk into OCS. She assists the staff with the coordination of OCS events and programs, oversees the OCS library resources and is generally knowledgeable in answering student inquiries about the office's many services.

Molly can also assist students and alumni in discerning which of the OCS staff coaches they should meet with based on their fields of interest, as well as provide assistance with Fletcher Career Central or the Intranet.

Molly received a BA in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Vermont. As a student at UVM, Molly worked for three years in the office of career services so she arrives at Fletcher well experienced in the operations of a career services office.

Linda Stantial works part-time coaching both 1^st and 2^nd year students primarily interested in the private sector.

Linda assists students who are targeting opportunities in the following areas:

• Business/Entrepreneurship
• Private International Law
• Marketing/Sales
• Management Consulting
• Risk Management & Analysis
• Science, Technology, & Telecommunication

Linda has coached and taught MBAs and experienced professionals about a wide range of career development issues (self-assessment and goal setting, conducting a proactive job search, networking, marketing oneself to potential employers, negotiating, and making final career decisions) for more than 30 years. She directed MIT Sloan's Career Development Office prior to becoming an independent career consultant.  Since 2001, Linda has continued to advise graduate students at MIT Sloan, worked as a part-time career coach at the Harvard Business School (with the creators of the CareerLeader self-assessment tool), served as a member of MIT Sloan's MBA Admissions Committee, and maintained a private career counseling practice.  She holds a BA in French from St. Lawrence University and  a master's in counseling from Boston University.
